Tar Heels over Illini to win title

NCAA Basketball during the month of March is magic. The championship, played last night, was no classic but was entertaining. Although the Illini went to sleep at the end of the first half, they came back and made it an entertaining game and preventing me from making an early night of it. No quit, and though they don't get to claim the title of "National Champions" they are nonetheless, Champions. A lesser team would have given up. Make no mistake, UNC was superior Monday night. A streak of hot shooting and some better defense got Illinois back in the game after trailing by double digits. With the Fighting Illini, they live by the sword (the three point shot) and they die by the sword. When there only quality big man got into foul trouble, there was little else for them to do. UNC, did what they had to do to win. Execution down in the last two minutes was a key factor in coming out on the winning end. UNC did, Illinois did not. Another great tournament over. I'm thanking my lucky stars that I decided to stay out of the pool this year. I had Syracuse and Oklahoma State in the final. Both were gone early.
